What Is an End-Grain Cutting Board?
In an end-grain cutting board, the wood fibres are positioned vertically in relation to the cutting surface. This allows the knife to work with the natural direction of the wood fibres, helping to reduce wear on the board and protect the knife edge.
This construction means that:
- knives stay sharper for longer,
- the surface is more resistant to everyday cutting marks,
- minor cuts and scratches are less noticeable,
- the board maintains its beautiful appearance for many years.
End-grain cutting boards have long been a favourite among professional chefs and those who value durability and high-quality craftsmanship.
The Natural Beauty of Different Wood Species
The combination of five different wood species creates a unique pattern full of natural contrasts.
Oak – a classic, exceptionally durable hardwood with a distinctive grain pattern and warm natural tones.
Red Oak – a strong hardwood with warm reddish-brown tones and a pronounced grain. It adds warmth and depth to the composition.
Padauk – an exotic African hardwood known for its intense red-orange colour, creating a striking accent among the lighter and darker woods.
Maple – a light-coloured hardwood with a fine, subtle grain. It brightens the composition and provides a clean contrast to the richer tones.
Walnut – a beautiful dark hardwood with deep brown and chocolate tones. Its elegant grain adds depth and a sophisticated contrast to the mosaic.
Natural variations in colour and grain mean that every board has its own individual character.
More Than Just a Cutting Board
The board is perfect for:
- chopping vegetables and fruit,
- preparing meat,
